Leighton Denny Crystal Nail File Cheaper HereThe secret of the crystal nail file lies in its manufacture. High quality lead crystal glass (the sort used in luxury glassware) is tempered for strength and then acid etched to give a permanent, rough surface.

To touch the Leighton Denny feels like a medium emery board, but in use it behaves like a fine emery board. You can use it in both directions.

There are two kinds: the medium is 135mm long and the large 195mm. The smaller 135mm crystal file is most practical because it comes in a slim, lightweight aluminium protective case. That offers great protection in a crowded handbag

Files quickly & smoothly

Owners report that this Leighton Denny nail file appears to file more quickly than an emery board. The resulting finger nail is as smooth and burr free as when an emery board is used.

Wash clean in warm water

If you notice a build-up of white nail filing dust, simply wash this nail file in water.

Nails less likely to flake catch or break

The Leighton Denny file will deliver a beautifully smooth nail edge. Because this is smooth it will be more durable, less likely to chip or flake.

But remember, weak nails may also be the result of an underlying condition related to diet or health.

What about the cons?

• Costs more to acquire than emery boards
• If you drop it on a hard surface it will break into pieces. NB pieces NOT tiny slivers.
• Can get broken in a crowded handbag – use the protective case
• Fatter than a metal nail file, so no good for cleaning dirt from under the nail.

Leighton Denny Crystal Nail File Reviews & Owners Comments

Leighton Denny Nail File Review Petra Sanderline, Lyme Regis, Dorset. User since Christmas 2012

Leighton Denny Crystal Nail FileI couldn’t, at first, see how a glass nail file would work – especially on my finger nails that often flake and then crack. But, I’m pleased to be proven wrong. This Leighton Denny crystal nail file really is up to the job.

I like to grow my nails long, so keeping them free of burrs and snags is a must to prevent peeling or breaking. The Leighton Denny file helps me get a perfectly smooth, fine edge that is durable. You can also use it to smooth any nail patches that appear. The file leaves no burrs on my nail, so no need to buff

You can file in both directions without tearing the nail edge or setting your teeth on edge.

Of course, the first thing you think of is will this thing break on me? In fact the glass is tempered and is reasonably thick, so it won’t break in use.

It’s also easy to grip if, like me, you have arthritic fingers. But, that thickness means you can’t use this file to clean under nails. I’ve got a separate metal file for that purpose.

However, a friend dropped her Leighton Denny nail-file onto a tiled floor and it broke into several pieces, but no nasty little shards. My advice: don’t drop it! And keep the file between uses in the natty aluminium case they provide so it won’t break in your handbag.

If you manicure your own nails then this is a must have.

Leighton Denny Crystal Glass Nail File Review by Daisy Morant, Sawbridgeworth, Herts. User for 9 months

I have natural nails and use a base coat (when I remember).

I seem to have weak nails that tend to break up with a regular emery board. I stopped having that problem when I started using this glass nail file. It sort of smoothes down the nail and, touch wood, I’ve not had a cracked or peeled nail for almost nine months now.

I’ve used a glass nail files for just over nine months now and would never go back to emery boards or worse, a metal file.

I’ve never liked metal nail files they simply grind the nail leaving it rough and prone to crack or flake. I don’t mind emery boards but they bend or wear out. This Leighton Denny file feels like a medium emery board but performs like a fine one. You can also rinse it off after use.

This is real [acid] etched crystal glass, so won’t wear out. I’m thrilled with mine. In fact, I’ve got two – one for home and one in my handbag.

I’ve even used them on my little boy since he was about three months old.

Leighton Denny Crystal Nail File Review by Stacie Cornell, Settle, Ribblesdale. User for 6 months

I was a bit sceptical, at first. I do my own acrylic nails and this Leighton Denny made light work of filing them into shape, and hasn’t worn out after 6 months of use.

The file is thicker than an emery board or metal nail file. However, I can work under the nail in order to get a smooth end and to work around the corners.

I use it to square off my nails which can be a trial with an emery board.

My nails looked and felt like I’ve just been to the nail bar.
